CLAY ORNAMENT WORKSHOP
Marsha L. Landers, Instructor
Beginning in June, MARSHA LANDERS will teach how to make ornaments on two Wednesdays in June and July. We will start at 9 in the morning and work until 11 a.m. Age limit 12 years and up. The Ornament workshop is two days, two hours each day. Pick your days from the calendar below. The class is limited to ten students at a time so please register early.
We will arrange for a class for younger children based on interest. Please contact Marsha Landers at 281-303-0279 or call the shop and leave your name and contact info with the shopkeeper.
Ornaments can be for any occasion - Halloween, Christmas, Easter or they may be something you collect like crosses, teapots, frogs, birds, shells or other interests. Ornaments can also be stringed together to create wind chimes. That is your choice how you wish to use them
Marsha will show you how to make the prototype and cast a plaster mould so that you can reproduce your original piece many times over. She will show you how to paint the piece then glaze it. These are flat, beginner pieces but hang nicely on a tree, window or other special place.
Students are limited to making four plaster moulds and twenty ornaments total. Students will be able to use the moulds indefinitely. All that you will need to do is arrange for firing.
Four hours of instruction, clay, clay slip, plaster, glazes, tools, high-temp wire hangers, ribbon, underglazes and all materials are furnished except one thing. You will need to provide four "Cool Whip" style containers - the small 8 oz. size with a diameter of approximately 6" at the top and 4-5" at the bottom. Flexible plastic, no lid necessary. Any flexible plastic container with these dimensions will work.
Where: CAMEO House, 1701 Dunlavy St.
When: Two Wednesdays each month. 9-11 a.m.
